The company

Enerdata is an independent research and consulting firm specialising in the analysis and modelling of the global energy markets and its drivers.

Created in 1991, Enerdata now has more than 30 years of experience on past and present issues shaping the energy industry.

Our teams are made up of energy experts, analysts, engineers and IT specialists. Capitalising on its databases and prospective models, Enerdata brings its expertise to cover the political, economic and environmental aspects of energy systems.

Description of the position

The position will deal with the database update process of our POLES-Enerdata model. This is an opportunity to join a team of energy experts, a fast-growing company and contribute to its development.

Enerdata runs and develops the POLES-Enerdata model, which enables to develop long-term energy and climate scenarios. The model feeds on a large historical energy database, updated every year to consider the latest energy developments. A procedure is in place to produce yearly data updates; Enerdata is aiming to improve the efficiency of the process through its automation and standardization, with a migration of the tools from Excel to Python. This internship will be the continuation of the work from a previous intern.

Core tasks include the review and assessment of the current procedure, the design of an improved process, and its implementation. The process will be documented to ease its understanding and facilitate future updates.

The internship will be motivating and challenging, as the intern will contribute to a large extent to the review and design of the update process, as well as its implementation, along with analysts from the Global Energy Forecasting team and the data architect in charge of our data process.
